Mickleton Road
This view of Mickleton Road shows the deceptively uniform fronts of the recently constructed terraced housing. In fact on closer inspection, like most Earlsdon terraces they are made up of blocks of slightly different designs. The developer would have put in the roads and services and then sold of sections of the frontage to different builders. The broad specification such as the line of frontage would be the same but details would be left to the different builders. Newsagents like Mr. G E Seeney’s shop are always useful for newspaper headlines giving dating information. So if you know when Mr. J M Barrie was honoured (presumably knighted for Peter Pan and other plays) and when George V’s Birthday Honours List was please let us know and we can date this photograph exactly! |
